Kwikfish

Here is the Luhr-Jensen tech tips article on Kwikfish for chinook.  Fortunatly we just run em naked here in Tahoe so our rig is much more simple.

I decided to name this section after the brand I use.  The family of lures is known as banana plugs, and there are many makers, but I feel strongly that the Luhr-Jensen Kwikfish is the best choice for Tahoe.  These are the lures I use least while trolling Tahoe, but they are so deadly I thought they deserved mention.  They dive to about 30+ feet.  That's deep for toplining.  They have a crazy wobble action and need to be trolled slowly.  One of my biggest macks came from a K10-J, chrome.  Kwikfish are fairly weedless, snagging rarely due to the vertical nature of the lure hiding the hooks behind it's body as it moves through the water.  Silver (chrome), and rainbow are the only patterns I use.  Keep a few of these for the days where you can't buy a bite in the shallows and need to prospect a little deeper.  My small size is the previously mentioned K10-J, and K14, or K15 is my big size. Never caught a 16 inch rainbow fishing this thing.  Big fish only so hang on!
